How to make pics transparent in photoshop?

See i have myspace and i have a pic i want to put on there but no background color. basically make the background transparent but i dont know how to in photoshop. Please help me!!How to make pics transparent in photoshop?

you may be trying to make gif or png instead of jpg,


~open image and duplicate layer,


~select with lasso tool parts you do want and copy,


~then paste into new layer, with option of transparency not foreground or background color,


~you can also erase parts from second layer of parts you dont want, when you are sure you're done, delete/remove original background layer,





you can save as psd image , then save copy as new gif or png, png is better quality, gif if you want to animate later,

all you have to do is merg all the layers as one but do not flatten them (actomatically give you a white background)


once you have one layer save the picture as a .PNG file
just look on the layers window and lower the opacity bar. :)
