There's no bundle with ';just'; those two. You can however get the Adobe Design Standard CS4 which has both. It is technically the cheapest package with both those products.

Hi, airbrushing is a bit more complex then using an icon. I think your looking for the blur tool, which will give you a basic effect. The blur tool looks a bit like a drop of rain. With Photoshop, how do you get rid of the blurry-effect around a line when filling in a border?
With Photoshop, I will sometimes draw a box around a picture, then do Select...Modify... Border, with a width of 8 pixels. I will then do a Fill, with the foreground color, generally black.
This works find, and I get a black line border, which is what I want.
BUT, around the border is a glowy, blurry light gray area. I don't want this... I just want a solid black border.
How do I get Photoshop to just fill the border with solid black line, and not black line with fuzzy gray as well?
The picture is a JPG, 600 dpi, in grayscale mode.

While we're on the topic, be sure to save ';iterations';. Every hour or so, go to File%26gt;Save As... and save a new file but with an incrementing number at the end. For example cat.psd -%26gt; cat01.psd -%26gt; cat02.psd ect.
Even though you saved your work - sometimes your files can get corrupted and you loose everything. Saving iterations allows you to go back to a earlier stage, without having to start over from scratch.

You have Photoshop for the wrong reason if you are using it with the expectation of using it for a drawing program.
It was designed for a far more sophisticated use.
If your want to use your original artwork, then draw it and scan it into Photoshop to do any work you may want, like color resize or any of the thousands of added features.
Trying to draw using Photoshop is like trying to draw using the old etch-a-sketch

The quickest way would be to select all, go to selection-%26gt;modify-%26gt;smooth and set the pixels to what looks good to you... invert the selection and add the color you like... there are other... better ways of doing it but its a little too much for me to type out here. Open the image you want to process.
Check to see what the dimensions and resolution are.
Before you do anything to the image, open a new blank file.
Check the dimension and resolution of the new file.

Go back to your original file.
Choose the eliptical marquee tool.
Set the feather to 10-20 pixels.
Select an oval around your main subject.

Copyright theft is still theft. The RIAA, although no longer doing so, were tracking down and fining people as young as 12-years old for illegally downloading music. It basically means that, if they want to find you, they will, but Adobe apparently doesn't seem to care that much at this point. Although, I'm sure, if they knew of a specific incidence, they would prosecute.

It's very simple to obtain ';cracked'; versions of Photoshop and other programs in the CS suites. They're all over the internet in various places, usually uploaded by users onto torrents such as BitTorrent or uTorrent or Mininova. I don't feel that it's a horrible crime, sometimes people want to have a go at the full program for free instead of using the free 30 day trial. If Adobe really wanted to put an end to it, they would most definitely be able to.

It's a lesser crime still that Adobe charges so much for software that is, for them, virtually free to duplicate once it's created.
If you decide to download a pirated version of Photoshop, just be warned that some copies are really trojans that infect your computer.
If you want something free, just get GIMP. If you're a professional, buy Photoshop.

I don't run cracked Photoshop or cracked anything, for this specific application task I use The GIMP, good useful and free Photoshop-me-too that has a lot to offer itself. I don't see it as horrible as you said; terrible that it is supposed to be a commercial software but piracy ruins it but considering what it is compare to The GIMP the situation is not as bad as stated.

Copyright theft is still theft. The RIAA, although no longer doing so, were tracking down and fining people as young as 12-years old for illegally downloading music. It basically means that, if they want to find you, they will, but Adobe apparently doesn't seem to care that much at this point. Although, I'm sure, if they knew of a specific incidence, they would prosecute.

It's very simple to obtain ';cracked'; versions of Photoshop and other programs in the CS suites. They're all over the internet in various places, usually uploaded by users onto torrents such as BitTorrent or uTorrent or Mininova. I don't feel that it's a horrible crime, sometimes people want to have a go at the full program for free instead of using the free 30 day trial. If Adobe really wanted to put an end to it, they would most definitely be able to.
I don't think it's a horrible crime, but it is a crime.
It's a lesser crime still that Adobe charges so much for software that is, for them, virtually free to duplicate once it's created.
If you decide to download a pirated version of Photoshop, just be warned that some copies are really trojans that infect your computer.
If you want something free, just get GIMP. If you're a professional, buy Photoshop.
Many people cannot afford the Photoshop price tag, especially poor designers and artists. On one hand, yes it hurts Adobe's sales, but on the other hand, the fact that everyone uses Photoshop means when people do get a proper paying job, they usually make their company buy Photoshop. In some ways, piracy helps Adobe and Microsoft keep their #1 spots because their products are so ubiquitous.
I don't run cracked Photoshop or cracked anything, for this specific application task I use The GIMP, good useful and free Photoshop-me-too that has a lot to offer itself. I don't see it as horrible as you said; terrible that it is supposed to be a commercial software but piracy ruins it but considering what it is compare to The GIMP the situation is not as bad as stated.

I LOVE the clone option! I use it to fix damaged family pictures. It is so very cool!
Atleast with mine, you place the marker where you want to copy FROM and them that marker moves with your paintbrush and ';clones'; the marked area and paints it on the area to be fixed.

Okay, you can't ';improve pixels.'; They are what they are. What resolution did you shoot at? Do you know? That will help determine what you can do.
You need to learn some of the basics of Photoshop. Get a decent basic book, look for online tutorials (there are a ton of them out there!)
Look at the Photoshop Help menu.
There are various things you can do, such as
Sharpen
Smart Sharpen
Unsharp Mask
Layer Masks and painting on masks
Brightness/contrast
Hue/Saturation
Blur
Remove Noise
Levels
Curves
You get the idea. There is some info on this in the Help menu.
A couple of books to consider Is Photoshop for Dummies (look for the version number that you have, and ';Dummies'; is not an insult, it merely means you need to learn the basics), Adobe Photoshop Visual Quick Start Guide, and the Adobe Photoshop Classroom in a Book (some people find the Classroom in a Book books a little ';dry';). I personally like the Visual Quick Start Guide books.
One important thing if you are going to mess around with your images: open the file in Photoshop and do a SAVE AS before you do anything else! Select Photoshop as the file type from the drop down menu, also recommend renaming the file, it can be simple like [file name]Rev1. This way you are working on a COPY of your image, not the original, so you will always have that original file and can go back to it if you want or need to.
Also if you are using files from your digital camera, most likely the camera will give you file names like IMG000201. Rename that to something that describes the photo so you can remember it better.
Good luck and don't be afraid to experiment!

Photoshop: How do you create a shape/path with specific measurements?
Okay...might not be the best place to ask this question but I'm having a hard time finding the answer. Basically, in Photoshop you can create shape vectors visually and then use Transform-Scale if the shape needs to be resized. My shape needs to be pixel measured exactly, but the Scale only lets you scale by percentage and not actual pixels. Try approaching from the other direction. Instead of trying to bolt on a thousand parts to make him look like a girl, find a picture of a girl in approximately the same pose with approximately the same lighting, and try to make her look like him. (ie exchange faces)
For skin tone, copy her face into a new layer. Then set that layer to only show on top of the layer containing his face (it's called a clipping mask in photoshop 9) Then set the coloured layer to have a blending mode, try something like ';color'; or ';overlay'; or ';multiply';. You'll probably need to touch up this layer to make it fit his face a little better.
Then blending it all together is up to you, but at least you're starting from a mostly consistent place, it mostly fits, just needs you to fill in the rough edges.

There's a great site related to Anime in Photoshop which instructs how to create opacity layers using your magic wand and using gradient fills. Extra step -- use a subtle watercolor filter also.
A standard picture could be tricky, but I guess I would start by making it grayscale and using extreme contrast. Then I would switch back to RGB and start dinking with those layers and effects. Good luck.
What are the main characteristics of comic book art? of course there are exceptions but they are basically:
- Forms are defined by lines drawned with ink using a pen or brush.
- Highly-saturated flat colors
- Simplified backgrounds
- Simplified color shading or non at all if the ink work is good.
You can use layers and masks on photoshop and even some of the artistic filters to flatten the colors. For the ink work... nothing in the basic package can do that. There is probably a third party plug-in for $ale, otherwise you will have to put your drawing abilities to use.

You want to select the area of the bitmap that has the shirt (or whatever) in it and apply the color to that.

You have to select it and press Ctrl+U and adjust the Hue %26amp; Saturation. Then you need to copy this layer and change it to a different color. Do save for web and devices and choose GIF and choose what frequency you want it to flash.(This may take some tinkering around with)

LOL While it has a good many of the features I use on a regular basis, it's essentially worthless for me because I can't save photos in CMYK, which is a requirement for print design. So I still have my old copy of Photoshop 5.5/System 9 on my old iMac and no Photoshop for my newer laptop yet.

Suppose a potential employer or client sees that modified image and then asks you to do a similar effect to their image? What do you do then? Come back to Yahoo Answers and ask some one to do the job for you?
The POINT of a portfolio is to show off what YOU can do.
I've seen this one girl do amazing jobs with her pictures. She was like holding a flower and put her eye in the flower and other crazy stuff. I wish I had the link to her MySpace but I don't. Just keep on trying crazy effects to it until something catches your attention.

White box appears around object that I try to copy using layers in Photoshop Elements?
A friend gave me a photo of him holding a pan when he was panning for gold. He wants me to digitally put a big gold nugget into the pan. I found an image on the internet of a gold nugget, selected the gold nugget and tried to copy it onto the oither photo. However, whenever I try to copy or drag the photo, it is surrounded by a white box that I cannot get rid of. 1. Convert the picture of the gold nugget into a photoshop document (just choose save as then .psd).
2. Now that you can create layers in your document, make sure the nugget is contained in a layer, and not in something called ';background';. If it's in background, right click on the background word and choose ';promote to layer.';
3. Choose the selection tool that selects by color. Click on the white part, it should be showing a dotted line around it.
4. Choose invert selection.
5. Choose copy.
6. Paste the nugget into the original photo.

i'd have to see to be sure but it sounds like you have the stroke turned on for your selection i assume you just use the rectangular marquee to make a quick selection. when you have the stroke turned on it puts a border the size and color of your choosing around your selection. this is used often in graphic design applications.
try using a different selection tool like the magic wand and see if you get the same results. otherwise you can just erase out the sections you don't want around the gold nugget and the stroke will go along with it.

Very easy. Right-click on any one of the files you're talking about and select 'Open With', then 'Choose program..'.
Now, pick what program you DO want to open up the photo quickly, say just to look at for a sec... I always use 'Windows Picture and Fax Viewer'
To make this change permanent (or at least until you repeat this prcedure and change it back again) simply put a check mark by 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file.'

now save it in jpeg format such that it can be opened with windows picture and fax viewer.

Check the extension of your photos, make sure its .jpeg. Also you can right click on the image file select following options.

Click on the checkbox 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file'

I think it might be best to think of the differences in terms of what you need Photoshop to do. I have Photoshop CS4 extended and find that the extended features are things I do not use everyday. PhotoShop -- way to interpolate multiple pics at once with Genuine Fractals?
I have 600 jpg images that I would like to interpolate up 400% with PhotoShop's Genuine Fractals plugin. Is there an easy way to accomplish this all at once, or at least quickly -- as in with PhotoShop Elements' ';process multiple files'; command, or with Actions? If it is a plug-in, you should be able to simply record an action for it.
Then go to Bridge, select the photos and run the action as a batch from there.

There are ELEVEN versions of Photoshop since it's inception. You better know there is a BIG difference between Photoshop 2 or 3 and Photoshop CS4. You do not state which version you have and which version the book your ordered pertains to, so it is pretty hard to give you tell you how much difference there is going to be.
Here is my suggestion. The ';Dummies'; series are some of the WORST books ever created on Photoshop. I suggest you return it and get a book that will REALLY help you. You need to purchase a book by Scott Kelby. He has books out on all versions of Photoshop. The title of the book you want is, ';The Photoshop ___ Book for Digital Photographers';. Insert your version in the blank. This book is many magnitudes better than the goofy ';Dummies'; series.
